Deficit decision: the two compensation measures — and who decides

Two routes to the same outcome. Which one applies in a given case is determined by the state recognition authority.

Deficit decision: the two compensation measures — and who decides

The state recognition authority names the substantial differences from German training in the deficit decision and sets out which compensation measures come into consideration. What follows reports how the official bodies describe both routes; it recommends neither.

  • Adaptation course: longer, usually paid, low risk, tied to an employer.
  • Knowledge exam: shorter and independent, but one decisive exam.
Important

The decision comes from a particular state authority, and that authority determines duration, approved institutions and retake rules. Questions about them belong there.

Checklist
  • Read the decision point by point
  • Ask the recognition authority which measure your own decision provides for
  • Clarify employer support
  • For a legal assessment: a specialist lawyer
